COVID-19 Health and Work Safety
Landlords and Property Managers right now also must consider their own health and safety while still performing their contractual obligations.
The Australian government statutory body Safe Work Australia has released some guidelines on how people can continue to operate businesses while looking out for their well-being and those around them.
If you have a workplace, make sure to prepare it properly. This also includes any instances you will need to visit properties for routine inspections.
Three key things you can do are to:
- maintain good hygiene and cleanliness of the workplace
- implement physical distancing – keeping everyone at the workplace physically apart, and
- use protective personal equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Encourage and practice good hygiene as you go about your business. Have access to facilities for good hygiene such as adequate supply of soap, water and toilet paper, and making sure these are kept clean, properly stocked and in good working order. When going out for business, use appropriate equipment, such as gloves and masks, and have alcohol-based sanitizers with you.
Practice social distancing, which means keeping the required distance apart. At the moment it is staying at least 1.5 metres away from others.
If you are able to work remotely, you must still remember work health and safety. Also be sure to set up a work station and maintain regular communication.
