Bardon: An Inner City Oasis

Nestled in the foothills of Mount Coot-tha is the peaceful and quiet suburb of Bardon. While conveniently close to Brisbane CBD at approximately 5 km, this leafy, residential suburb provides a quick retreat from the bustle of inner city life. With its hilly backdrop and charming old Queenslander homes, it might be hard to believe you’re so close to the city.

The suburb is also home to rugby league clubs, who often play home matches at Purtell Park. Green spaces, football and cricket clubs, and a vibrant art community also make Bardon a lively place to reside in. A small neighbourhood convenience shopping centre and a few shops and restauratns can be found in and around Macgregor Terrace. Residents speak highly of the quiet and safety of the suburb and of the gorgeous close-by state forest, which lends a peaceful vibe.

Bardon is located on Metroad 5, a major north/south arterial known (from north to south) as Jubilee Terrace, Macgregor Terrace, an expressway-grade Boundary Road (1990s) and Rouen Road through the suburb where it continues into Frederick Street, Toowong. This route provides a link to both the Western Freeway/Centenary Highway (M5).

The suburb of Kenmore can be found on the Brisbane River just 10km south-west of Brisbane CBD. Safe, leafy and a great sense of community are just some of the ways residents use to describe this residential area. Chapel Hill: Feel Close to Nature

Just 7 km from Brisbane CBD is a leafy, green suburb, Chapel Hill. With many schools nearby, many residents here are families with children. Chapel Hill can be described as a green suburb with its many old eucalyptus and native plants on terrain that leads to the protected reserve of Mount Coot-tha. Residents here can find picturesque walking and hiking trails. One popular spot is the Green Hill Reservoir, an off leash area for dogs, with great views of the city.

While there are no major shopping centres in the suburb, the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre is a 5 minute drive away and Kenmore Village is also nearby. Many transport options are also available and residents can find easy access to the airport and freeways to get to Gold Coast. Kangaroo Point: An Inner City Sanctuary

Directly across east of the Brisbane River from Brisbane CBD is a quiet sanctuary you would not expect to find. Kangaroo Point is full of prominent attractions and convenience at every turn, but residents also consider this suburb an underrated locality for relaxed living. Aside from being so close to the city, the river and Kangaroo Point Cliffs also provide stunning views.

Everton Park: Clean, Quiet, and Close to the City

Everton Park residents can agree that it’s a perfectly positioned suburb. Brisbane CBD is a quick and easy 15-minute drive (8 kms) from Everton Park. Morningside: Convenience At Every Turn

The suburb of Morningside has everything an active, on-the-go resident needs. People living at Morningside gush about all the local restaurants, cafes, seafood market, and pubs. Also in abundance are parking spaces, supermarkets, gyms, public and private schools, and easy access to the airport and motorway. A variety of public transport are available to Morningside residents, from bus to rail to ferry. All of this happens just to be 4 km outside of Brisbane CBD.

Some parts of Morningside have excellent city views, too. Pullenvale: A Quiet Acreage

Living in Pullenvale is almost like going on holiday. This peaceful suburb is 15 km west of Brisbane BCD and has a countryside atmosphere with its large acreage properties and leafy, rural blocks. The houses here have been described as having character with a pastoral feel. Residents say they greatly enjoy the safety of this suburb, making it an attractive area for families and retirees.

While it may be a retreat from the city, there are regular bus services and one can easily drive over to neighbouring Indooroopilly, Kenmore, and Bellbowrie for shopping and dining. Highgate Hill – A Quick Retreat From the City

Residents describe their home of Highgate Hill as peaceful and quiet, great for relaxing walks, and a convenient distance of 2km from Brisbane CBD. It’s easy to see why it comes recommended for professionals as well as semi-retirees.

Mount Gravatt East – South Brisbane’s Hidden Gem

Nestled among hills and flat lands is Mount Gravatt East, lined with leafy trees and a rising number of townhouses. Four major roads run through the suburb: Logan, Cavendish, Newnham, and Creek.
